Power and speed – road racing is a spectacular sport that FIM Oceania riders have excelled at worldwide
Road racing is a form of motorcycle sport held on a paved road surfaces.
This form of racing is mostly held either on a purpose-built closed circuits (E.G Phillip Island, Eastern Creek, The Bend in Australia or Hampton Downs, Ruapuna Raceway, or Manfeild in New Zealand. Road racing can also be conducted on a street circuit utilizing temporarily closed public roads.
Motorcycling Australia (MA) run the ASBK championship and Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ) run the NZSBK championship. Each country runs similar rules and regulations for the primary classes (Superbike and Supersport) and each country has support classes that compliment their individual series.
Superbike racing
Superbike racing is the category of motorcycle road racing that employs modified production motorcycles, Superbike motorcycles have four stroke engines, The overall appearance, seen from the front, rear and sides of the motorcycles corresponds to that of the bike homologated for use on public roads. Mechanical elements of the machine may be modified.
Supersport racing
Supersport racing is another category of motorcycle road racing that employs modified production motorcycles. Supersport machines also use a four stroke engine and comply to tight regulations which mean they remain largely close to their homologated road-going design. Engine tuning is possible but tightly regulated.
Oceania Junior Cup
The Oceania Junior Cup is a Junior Road Race Academy aimed at developing Oceania’s next road racing stars. It will provide young riders with everything they need to take to the track, opening the pathway to the next generation racers through an exciting experience. The belief in the program is so strong that FIM are supporting the Oceania Junior Cup for multiple years through FIM Oceania
